美伊谈判内幕遭美媒曝光:特朗普政府曾绕过伊朗谈判代表接触革命卫队
Odaily News - According to three sources familiar with the matter, in mid-May, US negotiators attempting to reach an agreement to end the war with Iran encountered a problem: they could not determine whether the Iranian representatives across the negotiating table truly represented the country's powerful Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). According to the report, Trump administration officials therefore took an unusual approach—bypassing the Iranian negotiators and making direct contact with senior IRGC leadership.
The person chosen by the US side to manage this secret communication channel was Nechirvan Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. He possessed an extremely rare advantage: the trust of both the United States and the IRGC leadership. This incident highlights that one important reason US-Iran negotiations have been so difficult is that Washington cannot determine who truly holds decision-making power in Iran. The US and Iran did eventually reach a memorandum of understanding, but it quickly fell apart. (AXIOS)
