Harvard University Heavily Invests $2.2 Billion in SpaceX

2026-08-16 01:49

According to Odaily Planet Daily, citing Fox News, Harvard University's investment division has disclosed its holding of $2.2 billion in SpaceX shares. Harvard Management Company reported the position in a regulatory filing on Friday, making SpaceX the largest single stock holding disclosed in its $4.3 billion U.S. equity portfolio. SpaceX's record-breaking IPO in June has generated substantial returns for university endowments, which gained stakes in the company through venture capital investments—some positioned more than a decade ago.

Harvard is not the only university investor to benefit from SpaceX's listing. The University of California's investment division disclosed a holding of approximately $1 billion in a filing this week, while the University of North Carolina and Washington University in St. Louis also hold stakes in the company.
