Odaily News: Russia's Ministry of Energy, pursuant to Government Decree No. 936, has banned cryptocurrency mining and participation in mining pools in Moscow and parts of the Kursk Oblast, with the ban lasting until December 31, 2032.
The year-round restriction aims to alleviate electricity capacity shortages, as energy-intensive mining facilities continue to strain regional power grids. Russia legalized registered mining in 2024, and has since imposed related bans in 10 other regions due to rising electricity demand. (CoinDesk)
