Applications for National Bank Charter Now Open; OCC Reports 40 Submissions from Digital Asset Firms in Past 18 Months

OCC Acting Comptroller Jonathan Gould said regulators had effectively blocked new bank applications for over a decade, but that period has now ended. The OCC has received 40 new bank applications over the past 18 months and noted that many complete applications have been decided within 120 days.
