Korean Media: SK Hynix Plans to Increase NAND Production Capacity in China by 50%

2026-08-11 09:22

Odaily reported that, according to South Korea's Seoul Economic Daily, SK Hynix has resumed construction of the second phase of its NAND flash memory production base in Dalian, China, with production capacity expected to expand by approximately 50%. Construction on the facility began four years ago but was halted for an extended period due to the downturn in the memory market. SK Hynix plans to complete the installation of semiconductor production equipment within the year and commence full-scale operations in the first half of next year. The investment cycle in Dalian has resumed after a four-year hiatus, driven by the surge in demand for enterprise-grade solid-state drives fueled by the proliferation of AI data centers, with NAND prices rising nearly tenfold over the past year.
