Odaily News: Judge Andrew Carter of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York has ruled to pause the civil case brought by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) against U.S. Army Special Forces Sergeant Major Gannon Ken Van Dyke, pending the outcome of related criminal proceedings. Prosecutors filed a motion to pause in July.
Gannon Ken Van Dyke is accused of using non-public information to profit over $400,000 from event contracts on Polymarket related to the removal of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. The U.S. Department of Justice stated that he participated in an operation to oust Maduro in January of this year.
Both criminal and civil cases were filed in April. Van Dyke has pleaded not guilty to all charges and has filed a motion to dismiss the criminal indictment, with trial potentially beginning as early as late 2026 or early 2027. (Cointelegraph)
