JPMorgan and multiple brokerages raise year-end S&P 500 target to 8,000 points
Odaily News, JPMorgan today officially raised its S&P 500 year-end 2026 target from 7,800 points to 8,000 points, citing robust corporate earnings prospects and the expectation that increased AI investment by major tech companies will significantly accelerate revenue growth. This target implies roughly 3% upside from the S&P 500's Friday closing level.
At least seven brokerages now expect the S&P 500 to reach 8,000 points by the end of 2026. JPMorgan analysts stated that as backlogged orders convert into actual revenue, the cloud computing business is expected to maintain strong growth, which would validate AI capital expenditures and further alleviate market concerns over returns on invested capital. According to data from the London Stock Exchange Group, of the 436 S&P 500 companies that have reported second-quarter earnings, 85.1% exceeded analyst expectations, significantly higher than the long-term average of 68% since 1994. So far this year, driven by AI-related optimism, the S&P 500 has risen approximately 13%. (CCTV Finance)
