SK Hynix labor-management conflict escalates: Employees push to form new union, potentially impacting memory expansion plans

Odaily News, SK Hynix's labor and management remain deadlocked over the plan to distribute performance bonuses in the form of company stock. Some employees are pushing for the formation of a new unified union. A preparatory group for the "unified union" has been established, and related communities have attracted around 4,000 employees, accounting for 11.6% of the company's total workforce.

Market analysts pointed out that if the labor-management conflict spreads to the production front line, it could increase uncertainty surrounding SK Hynix's HBM capacity expansion in the second half of the year. SK Hynix began mass production and shipment of HBM4 in the second quarter of this year, with plans to further expand output in the latter half. Production has not yet been affected, but if the conflict escalates and spreads to manufacturing sites, it could put pressure on supply plans for major clients such as Nvidia. (Yonhap)
