Odaily Odaily News: Dongguan Hengli police activated a pre-warning interception mechanism 5 minutes before the victim was about to conduct an offline transaction with the fraudster, dispatching officers to the bank to dissuade Ms. Li from handing over 1.1 million yuan in cash. Ms. Li had previously met a stranger online who lured her with the promise of an "internal virtual currency investment channel," claiming low barriers to entry and high returns, while forging profit screenshots to create the illusion of lucrative investment gains. The fraudster then induced her to withdraw cash by claiming that "offline cash-to-USD conversion was required for top-ups."
