Odaily News: U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent said in an interview with NBC on August 6 that the Strait of Hormuz will never return to what it once was. However, he emphasized that this is not the situation favorable to Iran as portrayed by Tehran, but rather that the Strait of Hormuz will lose its current status as a "chokepoint" for energy transportation. Bessent said that within the next two years, the Strait of Hormuz will become "irrelevant," with more than 50% or 70% of the energy that was previously transported through the strait being rerouted through underground pipelines.
