Odaily News: The U.S. Senate will not hold a procedural vote on the crypto market structure bill, the Clarity Act, before the August recess, with the vote postponed to September. Senate Majority Leader John Thune stated that Democrats insist on not holding a vote on the Clarity Act, and the bill will be prioritized after the chamber reconvenes.
The Senate will recess on Friday and return in mid-September. The bill needs to clear the 60-vote threshold, requiring support from roughly six Democratic senators on the Republican side; it passed the Senate Banking Committee in May by a vote of 15 to 9, with only two Democrats supporting it at the time.
Points of contention for the bill include stablecoin rewards, law enforcement's authority to address illicit finance, and ethics provisions related to Trump's crypto holdings. If the bill passes the Senate, it must return to the House for another vote before being sent to U.S. President Donald Trump.
