2026-08-06 12:05

Odaily News: Abbas Ghoudarzi, spokesperson for the Iranian Parliament's presiding committee, stated that after more than a month of negotiations, Iran and Oman are close to finalizing a new shipping arrangement agreement for the Strait of Hormuz. The proposed statement includes adjustments to shipping routes through the strait.

In addition, Ghoudarzi noted that the negotiations were conducted solely between Iran and Oman, and the United States was not permitted to participate. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Garibabadi said on the 5th that the agreement between Iran and Oman regarding the passage of commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz is nearing finalization, and both the northern route controlled by Iran and the southern route near Oman will be closed at that time.
