Bitget Signs Cooperation Agreement with Gelephu Mindfulness City Authority, Plans to Establish Office in Bhutan
Odaily News - Bitget recently signed a cooperation agreement with the Gelephu Mindfulness City Authority (GMCA) in Bhutan. Under the framework of the agreement, Bitget will establish a legal entity in Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC), prepare relevant financial services license applications under the regulatory framework of the Gelephu Financial Services Office (GFSO), and collaborate with GMCA on workstreams related to operations, regulation, and ecosystem development. According to the plan, Bitget will also gradually set up offices locally and conduct local hiring to support local talent cultivation and long-term development.
As a special administrative region in southern Bhutan, GMC is being developed as a next-generation international financial and innovation hub, with its virtual asset regime governed by the Financial Services Act 2025. Jigdrel Singay, a board member of the Gelephu Mindfulness City Board, noted that bringing in partners such as Bitget helps introduce global expertise while fostering local capacity and the development of the broader financial ecosystem.
