Odaily News: On August 5, the Japan Financial Services Agency (FSA) announced the establishment of a new "Crypto Assets and Stablecoins Division" to specifically oversee regulatory matters related to crypto assets and stablecoins. The organizational restructuring will take effect on August 7. Previously, crypto asset businesses were managed by the "Crypto Assets and Blockchain Innovation Counselor's Office" and the "Crypto Assets Monitoring Office" under the Risk Analysis General Division of the General Policy Bureau. Following the restructuring, the newly established Asset Management and Insurance Supervision Bureau will house the "Crypto Assets and Stablecoins Division," elevating it from an office-level unit to an independent division-level department. The division will oversee the "Crypto Assets Monitoring Office" for exchange supervision, the "Innovation Promotion Office," and the "Digital Payments Planning Office." The FSA stated that this restructuring aims to address new challenges such as financial digitalization and evolving regulatory demands.
