Crude Oil Whale Gets Liquidated Again, Cumulative Losses Exceed $2.43 Million Across 61 Rounds of Trading

2026-08-03 02:26

Odaily News: According to Hyperinsight monitoring, a whale address starting with 0xc278 has concluded 61 rounds of BRENTOIL trading since starting to trade Brent crude oil on March 19. Of these, 59 rounds were long positions and only 2 were short positions, with long positions accounting for 96.7%. All 61 rounds of trading resulted in a total net loss of approximately $2.431 million, with million-dollar-level heavy positions contributing 99.4% of the losses.

Yesterday, its Brent long position once again triggered a system liquidation. The entire liquidation process closed out 47,600 BRENTOIL long positions, with a liquidation trading volume of approximately $4.046 million, a weighted liquidation price of about $84.99, and a total loss of approximately $275,000. After the liquidation, this address no longer holds any Brent positions.

Before the liquidation, BRENTOIL on Hyperliquid fell from a high of $91.68 on Sunday to a low of $82.81, a maximum decline of 9.7%; its final backup liquidation price was approximately 7.6% lower than the high. This round of decline mainly occurred after Trump stated he would suspend a new round of strikes against Iran and said a Middle East ceasefire agreement was close to being reached.

The whale's three rounds of long positions in early April recorded losses of approximately $882,000, $513,000, and $460,000 respectively, but has since continued to almost exclusively go long on crude oil, repeatedly recording the largest single liquidation on the entire network.
