AMD to Invest $5 Billion in Anthropic, Reaching AI Chip Cooperation Agreement
Odaily Odaily reports that AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) has reached an agreement with Anthropic, under which AMD will invest up to $5 billion in Anthropic and sign an AI server procurement partnership valued at tens of billions of dollars.
According to the agreement, starting from the first half of 2027, Anthropic can purchase up to 2 gigawatts of computing power in total, using AMD's next-generation Instinct MI450 chips. AMD stated that this investment will be linked to the agreed computing power deployment targets.
AMD CEO Lisa Su said that the engineering teams of both parties have initiated joint research and development, and AMD aims to deeply participate in the construction of Anthropic's computing power infrastructure. Anthropic currently utilizes multiple computing solutions, including Google TPUs, Amazon Trainium chips, and Nvidia GPUs. (The Wall Street Journal)
