According to sources, Pakistan has reportedly requested a $10 billion fund from the United States to stabilize its currency. If approved, the fund would provide a lifeline for the financially troubled South Asian economy. This request comes after Pakistan previously facilitated negotiations related to the Iran war, a move that enhanced its diplomatic influence and raised expectations that it could secure economic benefits from Washington and other partners.

In a proposal submitted to U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, Islamabad is seeking a $10 billion bilateral exchange rate stabilization support fund between the U.S. and Pakistani governments, with a maximum term of five years. If granted, the arrangement would bolster Pakistan’s reserves, alleviate pressure on the Pakistani rupee, and reduce its reliance on multilateral financing, while Islamabad would also implement stricter fiscal and monetary policies under the International Monetary Fund program.
