Survey: Approximately 70% of US Crypto Traders Willing to Let AI Manage Their Portfolios
According to a survey by OKX of 1,400 US crypto traders, approximately 70% of respondents are willing to let AI manage their investment portfolios without manual review of each transaction, including fully autonomous operations or automatic decision-making within self-set risk limits. Younger respondents showed a higher willingness to cede control. 38% of Gen Z traders and 37% of Millennials expressed willingness to grant AI complete, unsupervised authority, compared to 11% of Baby Boomers.
The survey revealed that 51% of respondents use AI tools for research or trading multiple times per week, and 77% have used general-purpose chatbots to research crypto positions in the past three months. Real-time notifications and the ability to instantly revoke system permissions were the most desired safeguards among respondents.
79% of respondents indicated they would consider switching exchanges if other platforms offered better AI tools. The US SEC, FINRA, and state securities regulators have reminded investors to verify platform registration information and to be wary of promises of low risk and high returns.
