The US military continues to recommend that commercial vessels use the southern route of the Strait of Hormuz
Odaily reported that despite Iran repeatedly demanding that ships switch to the northern route closer to its coast, the U.S. Navy continues to advise commercial vessels to use the southern route of the Strait of Hormuz. On the same day, the Joint Maritime Information Center (JMIC) based in Bahrain issued a notice stating that the security threat level in the Strait of Hormuz and its surrounding waters remains severe, but emphasized that the southern route has been expanded and remains open to all vessels. The notice recommends that ships coordinate with the Combined Maritime Forces when transiting the Strait of Hormuz, but also points out that this is not mandatory, and vessels can pass through the southern route without coordination.
It is reported that since July 7, no large vessels with their positioning systems activated have been observed using the southern route near the coast of Oman. As of July 10, no commercial vessel has publicly indicated an intention to traverse the southern route of the Strait of Hormuz. (CCTV News)
