Sentient Foundation Commits $42 Million to Advance Open-Source General AI Development

Odaily, Sentient Foundation has announced the launch of an open-source general AI funding and investment initiative, committing $42 million to specifically support developers, researchers, and enterprises building and applying general AI in an open manner.

Through a combination of non-dilutive grants and investments, the program aims to keep AI infrastructure, models, tools, and applications open and accessible. The initiative has already received support from Alibaba Cloud, Franklin Templeton, as well as Princeton University and the Indian Institute of Science. Applications are now open and are reviewed on a rolling basis.
