Odaily reported that the U.S. House of Representatives passed the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act with a vote of 358 to 32 on Tuesday, following the Senate's approval of the bill with a vote of 85 to 5. The bill primarily aims to address housing affordability issues and has now been submitted to U.S. President Donald Trump.
The bill stipulates that the Federal Reserve shall not directly or indirectly issue or create a central bank digital currency, or any digital asset substantially similar to a central bank digital currency; this provision will expire on December 31, 2030. The bill also sets an exception for crypto stablecoins, allowing "a U.S. dollar-denominated, open, permissionless, and private currency." (Cointelegraph)
