Iran Central Bank Governor: "Significant Progress" in Unfreezing Iran's Assets
According to a report by Iran's Tasnim News Agency on the 22nd, Iran's Central Bank Governor, Hemmati, stated that "significant progress" has been made in unfreezing Iran's frozen assets during recent negotiations, and relevant documents have been signed during the current round of talks. Hemmati noted that the issue of the Central Bank's frozen assets is one of the most complex topics in the ongoing negotiations.
Per the relevant arrangements, the funds will be gradually made available for use in the coming days, according to agreed conditions and procedures set by the Central Bank of Iran. When discussing issues related to oil and petrochemical exports, Hemmati said that based on the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the U.S., the mechanism for sanctions exemptions concerning Iran's energy exports should already be in effect. It has been agreed that the U.S. Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) will be responsible for implementing the relevant arrangements. (Xinhua News Agency)
