Iran reiterates its right to take measures to safeguard security in the Strait of Hormuz
According to Odaily, the Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations released a statement on social media on the 28th, stating that Iran has the right to take all necessary measures within its territorial waters to address security threats. The statement pointed out that, as a major coastal state bordering the Strait of Hormuz, Iran has the legitimate right to take necessary and proportionate measures in response to emerging security threats. Iran emphasized that these measures are aimed at ensuring navigational safety and preventing the Strait of Hormuz from being used for hostile or military purposes. The statement accused the United States of illegal actions that jeopardize international navigation safety. It also reiterated that any disruption to transportation in the Persian Gulf region and its consequences should be borne by the U.S. side. (CCTV News)
