U.S. Government Running Bitcoin Node to Test Network Security
Odaily News Admiral Samuel Paparo, Commander of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, stated during a hearing before the U.S. House Armed Services Committee that the U.S. government is currently operating a node on the Bitcoin network, aimed at conducting cybersecurity-related tests. Samuel Paparo pointed out that the U.S. military is not engaged in Bitcoin mining but is using the node to monitor and conduct various operational tests, leveraging the Bitcoin protocol to enhance network security. Samuel Paparo emphasized that the U.S. military's interest in Bitcoin lies in its value as a computer science tool for cryptography, blockchain, and reusable proof-of-work, rather than as a reserve asset. Furthermore, Samuel Paparo mentioned that stablecoin legislation helps ensure the global dominance of the U.S. dollar.
