Odaily News: Iran's semi-official Tasnim News Agency reiterated on Wednesday that Gulf Arab states could still face the risk of having their submarine data cables in the Strait of Hormuz severed. Tasnim reported that "if multiple major cables are damaged simultaneously, whether due to accidents or sabotage, it could cause severe internet disruptions in the Persian Gulf." Several cables traverse the Strait of Hormuz. The Gulf region has previously experienced internet outages due to multiple cuts to submarine cables in the Red Sea. Yemen's Houthi rebels have also previously issued threats regarding cables. (Associated Press)
