Chan Mo-po: Intersection of AI and Web3 Will Change the Rules of the Financial Game

Odaily News According to an article published by Paul Chan Mo-po, Financial Secretary of Hong Kong, during the 2026 Hong Kong FinTech Week, the rise of AI agents intersecting with Web3 will change the rules of the game, enhancing transaction efficiency and creating new opportunities. Chan pointed out that Hong Kong will establish an AI Committee and formulate an industry development strategy to address the challenges brought by technological convergence. Currently, Hong Kong has issued multiple rounds of tokenized green and infrastructure bonds totaling over USD 2 billion, and is piloting the application of tokenized deposits in money market fund transactions through the Ensemble project. Chan emphasized that Hong Kong will maintain a balanced and forward-looking regulatory framework to ensure that while promoting tokenization and AI innovation, human control over autonomous decision-making systems and regulatory accountability are preserved.
