Trump Says US-Iran Negotiations Could Reach Agreement "Within a Day or Two"
Odaily President Trump stated that US-Iran negotiations are expected to take place this weekend, adding that the two sides "could reach an agreement within a day or two." In a phone interview, Trump said Iran "wants to meet and make a deal," expressing optimism about the progress of the talks. Simultaneously, he emphasized that the maritime blockade on Iran would not be lifted before a formal agreement is reached but expressed hope that the Strait of Hormuz would be open to all countries. It is understood that although significant progress has been made in the negotiations, differences remain on key issues, including the duration of Iran's nuclear enrichment suspension and the handling of its enriched uranium stockpile. The discussions also reportedly include the possibility of the US unfreezing approximately $20 billion in Iranian assets in exchange for Iran abandoning its high-enriched uranium reserves. Furthermore, Trump stated that the agreement would "make Israel safer" and called on Israel to cease its military strikes on Lebanon. Iran has not yet responded to these statements. (CCTV News)
