Shipping Data: Majority of Ships Passing Through Hormuz Use Iran's Mandatory Route

Odaily According to data from shipping analysis firm Lloyd's Register, in recent days, most cargo ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz have used the coastal route mandated by Iran, which is part of Iran's plan to control the waterway. Since April 13th, approximately 15 out of the 27 large commercial ships tracked by the firm have used this route; no ships used the non-Iranian mainstream route. Other ships traveled to and from Iran's Bandar Abbas port, which is directly located on the strait. The data also shows that 81% of ships crossing the strait since April have been linked to Iran. The oil tanker RHN, under US sanctions, entered the Persian Gulf on Wednesday and was still sailing near the Iranian coast on Thursday, with no destination listed. A Lloyd's analyst stated: "Ships are still passing through daily, with the majority linked to Iran." (Jin10)
