Musk: "Terafab" Project to be Jointly Operated by Tesla and SpaceX, Set to Locate in Austin
Odaily News Musk held a press conference regarding the "Terafab" project, stating that this grand initiative, ultimately aimed at manufacturing proprietary chips for robots, artificial intelligence, and space data centers, will be located in Austin and jointly operated by Tesla and SpaceX. Musk indicated that he will first establish an "advanced technology wafer fab" in Austin, which will be equipped with all the necessary facilities for manufacturing and testing various types of chips. Musk noted that although the semiconductor industry is increasing production, its growth rate still cannot meet his anticipated chip demand. "This pace is far below our expectations," Musk said. "Either we build the 'Terawatt factory,' or we will have no chips available, and we need these chips, so we are going to build the 'Terawatt factory'." Musk's project goal is to support 1 terawatt of computing power annually in the future. (The Paper)
