After India received temporary U.S. permission, tens of millions of barrels of Russian oil have approached India
Odaily News: Ship tracking data shows that more than 15 million barrels of Russian crude oil are currently in waters near India, providing a pathway for India to quickly respond to supply shortages in the Middle East following the U.S. issuance of a temporary permit allowing purchases. This crude oil is distributed across over a dozen tankers in the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal, seemingly unsold or without designated destination ports, and is expected to reach India within a week. Additionally, about 8 ships carrying approximately 7 million barrels of Urals crude oil are on standby in Singaporean waters and could also be delivered to India within a week. Beyond this, more cargo is being transported eastward via the Mediterranean Sea and the Suez Canal and could potentially reach India within a month. Kpler data indicates that tankers carrying Russian oil had already begun altering course and signaling towards Indian ports before the U.S. government issued the permit on Thursday evening. Currently, about 18 Urals crude oil tankers are shown heading towards India. Sumit Ritolia, an analyst at the data intelligence company, stated: "Refiners may quickly resume purchases, with daily procurement volumes expected to exceed 2 million barrels again in the short term. The deep discount on Russian crude oil may narrow significantly and could even turn into a premium." (Jin10)
