According to Odaily Planet Daily, during a hearing at the Eastern Magistrates' Courts on Monday, the prosecution's application to adjourn the JPEX fraud case until next year to complete case file preparation was granted. A group of social media influencers involved in the case are accused of endorsing JPEX and acting as public spokespeople for the platform's over-the-counter cryptocurrency trading outlets. Their next court hearing is scheduled for March 16. They face multiple charges, including conspiracy to defraud, fraud, inducing others to invest in virtual assets by fraudulent or reckless means, and dealing with property known or suspected of representing proceeds of an indictable offence. Of the eight defendants who appeared in court, seven were granted bail under their original conditions. Those involved include lawyer-turned-influencer Lam Tsz-lam, video blogger Chan Wing-yee, former TVB actor Cheng Chun-hei, and fitness instructor Chiu King-yin. Cheng Chun-hei did not apply for bail and remains in custody.
