State Street: Most Institutional Investors Expect Digital Asset Exposure to Double by 2028
According to the 2025 Digital Asset Outlook Report released by State Street, more than half of the institutional investors surveyed expect their digital asset exposure to double in the next three years, and 60% of institutional investors plan to increase their digital asset allocation within a year.
The survey shows that tokenized private markets are seen as the first major wave of blockchain adoption, with private equity and fixed income being the most likely starting points. By 2030, the majority of respondents expect 10% to 24% of their total portfolio to be tokenized.
Transparency and operational efficiency are the main factors driving this shift. More than half of respondents believe improved asset data visibility is a key benefit, and nearly half expect to save at least 40% in costs by adopting digital asset infrastructure. Currently, 40% of institutions have established dedicated digital asset departments. (CoinDesk)
