Odaily Planet Daily News: South Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said that as the deadline for the US tariff increase (August 1) approaches, South Korea and the United States reiterated their commitment to reaching a mutually beneficial trade agreement. According to a statement released by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy on Friday, U.S. Commerce Secretary Lutnick and Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Kim Jong-kwan held consultations on industry-wide reciprocal tariffs on Thursday, and the South Korean side emphasized the need to lower trade barriers. The statement showed that the two sides agreed to strengthen manufacturing cooperation and continue dialogue. The statement said that Kim Jong-kwan also met with U.S. Energy Secretary Wright on Wednesday to discuss cooperation on clean energy and energy security.
