KOL AB Kuai.Dong: The X platform’s crypto user account blocking trend may be related to third-party crawlers and matrix accounts

2025-06-12 03:23

Odaily News Crypto KOL AB Kuai.Dong (@_FORAB) published an article analyzing the recent large-scale account blocking of crypto users on the X platform, and believed that the more credible explanation was that this wave of account blocking was aimed at data scraping that did not pass the official API interface.
He pointed out that if an enterprise retrieves 200 million tweets per month through the official X interface, it will have to pay more than $200,000. Many projects such as gmgn, ai16z, and eliza use third-party crawlers to obtain data in order to save costs, which leads to centralized bans. At the same time, blogger accounts that frequently mention related projects may also be marked as matrix accounts and banned.
AB added that this is also one of the reasons why some Web3 task platforms are difficult to operate continuously, because the interface call cost is higher than the platform revenue.
