CertiK Co-founder Gu Ronghui: From Bybit to Coinbase, private key protection should be a core issue
Odaily News CertiK co-founder Gu Ronghui was interviewed by FintechTV at the New York Stock Exchange, where he discussed hot issues in blockchain security and focused on analyzing the systemic risks exposed by the Bybit and Coinbase incidents.
Gu Ronghui pointed out that the losses from on-chain security incidents in the first quarter of 2025 have exceeded 1.67 billion US dollars, and the unique path of the Bybit attack on the Safe Wallet system highlights the urgent need for Web3 security protection. He emphasized that the comprehensive regulatory framework needs to be improved urgently, and private key protection should become a core issue. At the same time, the demand for privacy and security of Web3 users is driving the industry towards a more transparent and secure direction.
Combining his experience at the Monetary Authority of Singapore and the Hong Kong Web3 Task Force, Gu Ronghui called for a balance between regulation and technology to build a more solid security foundation for decentralized finance.
