Odaily News U.S. and Vietnamese businesses asked the Trump administration to postpone plans to impose 46% tariffs on Vietnamese goods, saying the tariffs would hurt them and bilateral business relations. The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the American Chamber of Commerce in Hanoi expressed concerns to Commerce Secretary Lutnick in a letter dated Saturday, calling the tariffs, which are set to take effect on Wednesday, "shockingly high." "Lower tariffs on products entering Vietnam, and lower tariffs on products entering U.S. consumers, will help American companies, the economy, and consumers. Higher tariffs will not," the American Chamber of Commerce and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce said in a statement.
