Odaily News Paul Atkins, the nominee for chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), will attend a confirmation hearing of the Senate Banking Committee on March 27. If approved, the full Senate will hold a final vote.
Atkins, a former SEC commissioner and supporter of digital assets, previously founded a financial compliance consulting firm in Washington. He is expected to continue the pro-crypto regulatory stance promoted by the Trump administration, succeeding former SEC Chairman Gary Gensler, who was criticized for his "enforcement-style regulation" of the crypto industry.
Also attending the hearing on the same day was Jonathan Gould, the nominee for Director of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). The agency is responsible for supervising U.S. national banks and is crucial to crypto companies' efforts to gain bank access and regulate the issuance of stablecoins. In addition, the Senate will also consider Luke Pettit's nomination as Assistant Secretary of the Treasury. (CoinDesk)
