Michael Saylor: Bitcoin should be considered digital property, and owning Bitcoin is the second best option for those who cannot immigrate to the United States

2025-03-12 00:52

Odaily News At the Bitcoin For America summit held by the Bitcoin Policy Institute (BPI), a Washington, D.C. think tank, Michael Saylor, executive chairman of Strategy, said that the strategic Bitcoin reserve represents the U.S. digital hegemony strategy in the 21st century. Saylor advocates treating Bitcoin as digital property and believes that the U.S. should acquire as many Bitcoins as possible in order to "lease and finance" on this basis.
Saylor predicted that trillions of dollars of commerce will flow through the Bitcoin network in the future, which is another reason why the United States should prioritize acquiring a share of the network. He emphasized that Bitcoin embodies American values and owning Bitcoin is the second best option for people who cannot move to the United States.
“People in Asia and Africa would move to the United States if they could. They want the American currency, security, and values, but they can’t get them,” Saylor said. “So the next best thing they can do is move their funds into the Bitcoin network, which has all of the American values, protections, and security.” (Bitcoinmagazine)
