UK police charge two people with running cryptocurrency scam
Odaily News British police have arrested and charged two men in connection with a cryptocurrency scam that cost a 75-year-old Aberdeenshire retiree a six-figure sum.
The male victim reported the fraud in July 2024 and Police Scotland launched an investigation. They arrested a 54-year-old man in Coventry and a 36-year-old man in Mixborough, both of whom were charged on the same day.
In a statement about the arrests, Detective Sergeant David Williamson of the North East Division's Cyber Crime Team warned the public to "be wary of activity that appears fraudulent and report it to police." (Decrypt)
