Odaily News President Trump plans to select a16z crypto policy director and former CFTC commissioner Brian Quintenz to lead the CFTC, according to a document sent by the White House to Congress.
Quintenz has been an active advocate for regulatory changes that would benefit digital asset companies and other new technologies and financial products. If confirmed, he is expected to push for reforms that would help the CFTC become the go-to regulator for cryptocurrencies.
According to the same document, Jonathan Gould will be nominated as Director of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) and Jonathan McKernan will be appointed Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Trump's plans for the nomination.
Trump selected Republican junior CFTC Commissioner Caroline Pham as acting chair in January. Former National Credit Union Administration chief Rodney Hood was recently selected as acting OCC chief. (Bloomberg)
