Odaily News The landfill in Newport, Wales, where IT engineer James Howells accidentally dumped a hard drive containing 7,500 Bitcoins (now worth about $750 million or £620 million) is scheduled to close in 2025-26. Howells' attempts to sue the city council for permission to enter the site or compensation have failed.
The city council plans to close the landfill, which has been in use since the early 2000s, with part of the land to be used to build a solar farm to power the council's growing fleet of electric rubbish vehicles and phase out diesel vehicles.
