Cboe BZX Exchange Files 19b-4 Applications for Spot XRP ETFs for Multiple Issuers
Odaily News Cboe BZX Exchange filed a 19b-4 filing on behalf of Bitwise, 21Shares, and Canary Capital to list and trade an XRP spot ETF.
The 19b-4 filing is the second part of the cryptocurrency ETF application process submitted to the SEC. Once approved by the SEC, the filing will be published in the Federal Register, thus starting the agency's approval process.
Bitwise first filed for registration of a spot XRP ETF in October, while 21Shares submitted an S-1 registration statement for an XRP ETF to the SEC in November. Given Trump’s support for cryptocurrencies, issuers have filed a large number of spot cryptocurrency ETF documents in recent weeks.
WisdomTree filed a spot XRP ETF application with the SEC in December, while NYSE Arca published a 19b-4 filing on Jan. 30 seeking to convert Grayscale’s XRP Trust into a spot cryptocurrency ETF. CoinShares also filed a registration statement for the “CoinShares XRP ETF” last month.
Purpose Investments submitted a preliminary prospectus for an XRP ETF to Canadian regulators on January 31, hoping to become the world's first XRP ETF issuer.
