Phantom responds to the "vulnerability" controversy: no risk to user funds, apologizes for delay in communication
Odaily News Crypto wallet Phantom says a recently reported vulnerability poses no risk to user funds following criticism from a security researcher going by the handle @CloakdDev.
In a public statement, Phantom apologized for the delay in communication and stressed that it remains committed to security. “We do not believe this has put user funds at risk in any way,” it added.
However, Phantom did not provide further technical details or a timeline for any potential actions. Likewise, Cloakd did not provide any technical details about the alleged vulnerability.
On January 21, Cloakd expressed his disappointment with Phantom's response and published the matter on X to spark discussion. The researcher said: "Now, this has become a joke - I can't even get a response from their security team for updates."
Researchers believe that for a platform of Phantom's size and reach, this delay is worrying. After Phantom responded, Cloakd refuted the wallet's claims, saying that the vulnerability "directly puts user funds at risk." Researchers urged Phantom users to take precautions, including backing up their seed phrases and considering using other wallets. (CryptoSlate)
