A scammer wearing a rubber mask pretended to be a Kraken user to conduct video verification, but failed to hijack his account
2024-11-10 01:06
Odaily News Kraken recently said that it had discovered scammers wearing Halloween-style rubber masks trying to deceive staff, but failed. It is reported that when users try to regain access to their Kraken accounts, they may be asked to make a video call with a support agent to prove their identity. The attacker showed some red flags in the first round of checks, such as failing to say the names of the assets held in the account. These signals caused the agent in charge to request a video call to grant access to the account. During the call, Kraken staff asked some questions and checked the person's ID, and the attacker exposed suspicious circumstances at this stage. Kraken Chief Security Officer Nick Percoco said that some exchanges do not pay as much attention to details as Kraken requires of its team, and some companies support outsourcing, which is more prone to problems.
