Odaily News Robert Liu, a member of the BitGlobal board of directors, said in an interview that the plan to create a joint venture with BitGo began last year, when BitGlobal had anticipated that a Bitcoin spot ETF would be approved at some point. At that time, BitGo was also looking for potential partners to strengthen the WBTC project after the merger deal with Galaxy fell apart. BitGo, the original and long-term custodian of Bitcoin that supports WBTC, announced on August 9 that it would disperse the custody control of the project to three entities around the world, rather than just one, to help decentralize the business. BitGlobal is a global custody platform headquartered in Hong Kong, regulated and registered as a Trust and Company Service Provider (TCSP), and is a "strategic partnership between BitGo, Justin Sun and the Tron ecosystem."
