Odaily News A Nigerian court on Friday rejected a bail application filed by Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan, who is on trial for alleged money laundering and currency manipulation, over health issues, and directed the prison to send him to a doctor for treatment. Judge Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in the capital Abuja noted that a person being ill "does not mean they have the right to leave the detention facility unless continued detention would cause harm to others and cannot be isolated." According to U.S. lawmakers, Binance's financial crime compliance director Tigran Gambaryan, who was unjustly detained, has been held in the country since February. His lawyers have repeatedly raised his poor health and said he needed surgery. Gambaryan's lawyer Mark Mordi had pleaded with the court to grant his client bail so that he could seek medical treatment for a herniated disc, which has made it difficult for him to walk.
