ZachXBT: An Indian phone scam group impersonated Coinbase support staff and stole more than $5 million from elderly victims

Odaily News Chain detective ZachXBT posted on X that in April 2024, an elderly victim from the United States was targeted by Indian telephone scammers who impersonated Coinbase support staff, resulting in the theft of most of the victim's savings. ZachXBT said it helped recover the recently seized $275,000, which will be returned to the victim. He also said that the organization stole more than $5 million from other victims, and the funds were laundered from Ethereum/Bitcoin to Tron through CEX before the stablecoin was transferred to OTC trading.
