Odaily News Scottish prosecutors have seized nearly $144,000 (£110,000) worth of Bitcoin from a "technician" who orchestrated a home invasion in which a cryptocurrency holder was threatened with a machete. The late-night robbery took place in March 2020 at the home of an unnamed victim in the town of Blantyre, near Glasgow. They also stole a car and other valuables, and beat a woman with a custom-made Toblerone chocolate bar, injuring her. At another hearing at the High Court in Edinburgh on Monday, prosecutors converted Rennie's 23.5 Bitcoins into cash and confiscated them under the Proceeds of Crime Act, which were worth £109,601 when they were sold. At the time of the crime in March 2020, the price of Bitcoin fluctuated between $5,032 and $9,135. At current prices, the 23.5 Bitcoins are worth about $1.37 million (£1.04 million). (Decrypt)
