Odaily News Michael Shellenberger, a writer for San Francisco magazine, wrote that yesterday the Brazilian government blocked X (formerly Twitter) and threatened citizens with fines of $8,900 per day if they used the platform. Musk retweeted a tweet in support, saying that Twitter respects Brazilian laws, but when asked to break them, Twitter has the right to refuse. Ironically, while Twitter may have been banned for not abiding by laws elsewhere, it was banned in Brazil for abiding by them.
