Google AI model Gemini introduces AI assistant Gems and image generator Imagen 3

Odaily News Google said on Wednesday it has released customizable "Gems" as it rolls out the first major update to its flagship AI model Gemini in an effort to challenge OpenAI's dominance in the AI market. Gemini will also directly integrate the company's AI image generator Imagen 3. However, it still can't generate images of people, and a previous version produced problematic images and forced Google to take the tool offline. Similar to the GPT feature of OpenAI's ChatGPT, Gems, which Google first announced at the Google I/O conference in May, enables users to create modular, custom AI assistants based on the Gemini model that can be used for a variety of projects from coding to career advice. Google said Gems are available for Gemini Advanced, Business, and Enterprise users. (Decrypt)
